York University and the Instituto Tecnologico de las Canarias (ITC) have signed a formal agreement that will enable students and professors to visit Spain and Canada to advance training and research collaboration on renewable energy.

The agreement is part of a broader international effort aimed at developing a new international program that will include leading renewable energy centres in the Americas and Europe to offer new experiential training opportunities aimed at fostering leadership and innovation in the renewable energy sector.

The ITC is developing some of the world’s most advanced renewable energy projects including the new 100% renewable energy system that was inaugurated on June 27 2014 in the Canary island of El Hierro. York University’s Sustainable Energy Initiative is one of Canada’s leading training and research facilities for renewable energy and efficiency and is part of the International Renewable Energy Agency’s Learning Partnership and RETScreen’s International Training Institute.
